Young Shangpa Rinpoche & previous Dupsing Rinpoche
The 1. Dupsing Rinpoche , died in 1979:
Rinpoche's previous life strongly showed that he was a very qualified and great
master in Tibet. He was brought to Tshurpu Monastery by His Holiness
16th Gyalwa Karmapa where he stayed retreat. After completion of the
retreat His Holiness 16th Karmapa told him to go to Mendong
Monastery and take the responsibility as the Dorje Lopoen (Vajra
Master).
He
served as Vajra Master till the Chinese occupation (1959) in Tibet, Rinpoche left Tibet and reached
Nepal at a place called Pokhara. He and some of his disciples
settled down there with a small temporary Monastery and slowly established and
developed a permanent Monastery with about 33
monks including the young tulku, Shangpa Rinpoche.
Dupsing Rinpoche & Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche are strongly
connected to each other, having established this unique bond in their
previous incarnations.
The 1st Dupsing Rinpoche was the reincarnation of the Khenpo Lama
Pema Gyaltsen a disciple of the 15th Karmapa. The previous Dupsing Rinpoche passed away in 1979.
Rinpoche stayed in deep
meditation for 3 days, even after his physical death. During the
cremation ceremony many auspicious signs occurred and relics
appeared in front of a large crowd of close disciples and followers
from both near and far.
The
2. Dupsing
Rinpoche , born 1981 :
The present Dupsing
Rinpoche was born on the 17th November 1981 in Mundgod in the southern India.
Even before giving birth to Rinpoche, his mother Tselha Dolma had a
dream about having a spiritual son in her womb. One night she was
dreaming that 4 Bodhisattvas appeared in the sky, and took out
their golden rope and placed it nicely on her womb, leaving a
message for her saying that this son was very special and she
should take very good care of him.
Suddenly, she woke up from her dream and felt very good afterwards.
Few months after this, she gave birth to the son who later was
recognized as the Dupsing Rinpoche tulku.
At the age of two, he
started talking, and telling everyone that he himself had 2 monasteries;
1 in Tibet and the other one in Nepal. Nobody cared much for this
information.
Near the place where Rinpoche grew up, a small
Kagyupa monastery was situated, and Rinpoche liked this very much. He often
went there to visit and play the bell, damaru and other music instrument for
the rituals.
Already when Rinpoche was 4 years old he wanted to become a monk, and his parents
allowed him to do so. Rinpoche was ordained and officially declared
as a monk by one great dharma practitioner in India.
During his life in the Monastery, Rinpoche was a very talented monk eager
to learn ritual arts, chanting as well as being involved in many spiritual
activities. The head of the Monastery, called Lama
Dupgyud Rinpoche, found this young boy very special. As well as
he perceived and treated him particularly special among others in
the
Monastery.
After sometime His Holiness Shamar Rinpoche, and H.E. Tai Situ, and H.E. Goshir Gyaltsab
Rinpoche recognised that boy as the previous
Dupsing Rinpoche. Within one month’s time, his previous disciples from
Pokhara came and welcomed him. They then requested his parents to allow them to bring
Rinpoche back to his Monastery in Pokhara.
Fortunately, his parents allowed Rinpoche to be brought back to his
Monastery in Nepal. In
order to bring him back, in 1987, two of his previous life’s
disciples came to Mundgod as representatives from the Monastery. On
the way to Nepal His Holiness Shamar Rinpoche made the offical enthronement ceremony
at the Karma Kagyu seat, Rumtek Monastery.
Dupsing Rinpoche studied under numerous masters in Pokhara. At
the age of 14; Rinpoche joined "Vikrama Shilla Buddhist
Institute" in Pokhara, and
studied for 6 years. Rinpoche studied with great effort, and through
his hardship he managed to obtain every year first position in his
class and graduated with BA in Buddhist Philosophy.
After this Rinpoche joined University of Cambridge in UK for English
Literature, Theology and completed his studies with the degree MA in
Theology.
From May 27th - August 10th 2002 Rinpoche made a special retreat at
"Dhagpo Kundreul Ling" in France together with His
Holiness 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Gyaltrul Rinpoche and Nendo Rinpoche.
The retreat was guided by the experienced master Kenchen Trinley
Paljor Rinpoche, who transmitted the "Six Yogas of Naropa"
to the small group.
From 2002 onwards, Rinpoche has been traveling to North America,
Europe,
and other Asian countries to spread the teachings from Buddha
Sakyamuni, which is the source of momentary and ultimate happiness.
Currently Rinpoche is wishing to start a long period of closed
retreat in Nepal.
